Bulletin

Over the past 24 hours solar activity has been low. No flares have been recorded. No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have been detected in coronagraph observations. The greater than 10MeV proton flux remained at background levels over the past 24 hours. Solar activity is expected to remain low over the next 24 hours with a small probability of C-class flares. The solar wind speed measured by DSCOVR has decreased from about 640 to 530 km/s in the past 24 hours. The total magnetic field strength has fluctuated between 4 nT and 6.5 nT. The Bz component has fluctuating between -3 and +3.5 nT. Quiet geomagnetic conditions (K Dourbes between 2 and 3; NOAA Kp=2) were registered in the past 24 hours. Over the next 24 hours geomagnetic conditions are expected to be quiet. Quiet to unsettled conditions are expected on May 23 and May 24.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 050, based on 25 stations.
