Bulletin

Solar flaring activity was at very low levels. No significant flares have been recorded. Solar activity is expected to remain at low levels.

No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in the available coronagraphic imagery.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at background levels the past 24 hours. It is expected to remain so in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at moderate levels over the past 24 hours. It expected to start increasing from the next 24 hours, as a possible response to the influence of the CME taking place on July 20th.

The solar wind speed near Earth slightly increased, varying between 295 and 370 km/s (DSCOVR). The polarity of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) switched from being oriented away the Sun to towards (phi angle switched from the positive to the negative sector). Bz fluctuated between -10 and +10 nT. The magnitude of the magnetic field varied between 0 and 11 nT. The solar wind properties are indicating effects from the arrival either of the High Speed Stream from the Coronal Hole crossing Central Meridian late July 19th or early arrival of the CME on July 20th. More information will be given when more data are availalble.

The geomagnetic conditions were quiet to unsettled. The values registered for the past 24 hours were 0-3 for K Dourbes and NOAA Kp. Quiet to unsettled, with a chance of an isolated active period (K Dourbes = 4), geomagnetic conditions are expected for the next 24 hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 010, based on 11 stations.
