Bulletin

Solar flaring activity continues to be very low and we expect such a low level of flaring activity in the coming hours. During last 24 hours there were no Earth directed CMEs and the solar protons remained at the background level. The solar wind speed is presently about 360 km/s and the interplanetary magnetic field magnitude is 4 nT. Elongated and patchy equatorial coronal hole of positive polarity has reached central meridian this morning. The solar wind originating from this coronal hole might arrive to Earth late on December 17. The geomagnetic conditions are presently quiet and we expect quiet to possibly unsettled geomagnetic conditions (due to expected arrival of the solar wind originating from the equatorial coronal hole of negative polarity that reached central meridian in the evening of December 10) in the coming hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 25 stations.
