Solar activity was at very low levels. NOAA 2683 (Catania 57) had rotated over the west limb by the end of the period. It was the source of a B5 flare peaking on 08 October at 06:47UT. A small bipolar sunspot region emerged near N15W35. No earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were observed in available coronagraphic imagery. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels.
Quiet flaring conditions are expected, with still a slight chance on an isolated C-class flare.
Solar wind speed varied between 400 and 460 km/s (DSCOVR). Bz fluctuated between -5 and +6 nT, being mostly positive after 04UT. The interplanetary magnetic field was mostly directed towards the Sun. The extension of a positive polar CH started its transit of the Central Meridian early on 07 October and may influence the earth environment around 10-11 October.
The geomagnetic field was at quiet levels, with unsettled levels reached in Dourbes at the end of the period. Mostly quiet geomagnetic conditions are expected, with a chance on an isolated unsettled interval.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 14 stations.
