Bulletin

Solar activity was at very low levels. No flares were observed during the reporting period. No Earth-directed CMEs were observed in available coronagraph imagery. Integral proton flux for protons with energies above 10 MeV remained at background level. Solar activity is expected to grow till B-class flaring level today (April 16) and till C-class flaring level from tomorrow (April 17) due to anticipated return of previously active regions to the visible solar disk.

Solar wind speed decreased from about 350 km/s to values around 315 km/s (05UT, 16 April), but then increased again till 350 km/s. The total interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) strength, as recorded by the DSCOVR satellite, was around 5 nT. Bz fluctuated between -4.5 and +4 nT. Quiet geomagnetic conditions (K Dourbes between 0 and 2; NOAA Kp between 1 and 2) were registered in the past 24 hours. Solar wind speed is expected to grow further today due to the arrival of high speed stream from the positive polarity coronal hole. In response geomagnetic conditions are likely to experience mostly quiet to unsettled conditions from late today (16 April) and tomorrow (17 April). Isolated episodes of active geomagnetic conditions are also possible.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 21 stations.
