Bulletin

Solar activity remains at the low level with only B-class flares reported within last 24 hours. We expect this low solar activity to persist with possibility of only an isolated C-class flare in the coming hours. No Earth directed CMEs were observed in the last 24 hours. The arrival of the ICME (at about 12 UT on September 07) induced intervals of active to geomagnetic storm conditions during last 24 hours. Since 23:50 UT on September 08, the Bz component of the interplanetary magnetic field has constantly negative value of about -10 nT. The solar wind speed is slowly decreasing and its current value is about 410 km/s. The long interval of the negative value of the Bz component and at that moment still high solar wind speed (about 440 km/s) induced geomagnetic storm conditions early this morning, NOAA reported Kp=6 and local station Dourbes reported K=5. Yesterday morning (September 08), elongated equatorial coronal hole (from 20S to 20N) crossed central meridian. The associated fast flow is expected to arrive late on September 10 or in the morning of September 11. This morning the low latitude extension of the northern polar coronal hole crossed the central meridian. The associated fast flow is expected late on September 11 or in the morning of September 12. We expect active to unsettled conditions in the coming hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 047, based on 17 stations.
