Solar activity report
Any mentioned solar flare in this report has a scaling factor applied by the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC). Because of the SWPC scaling factor, solar flares are reported as 42% smaller than for the science quality data. The scaling factor has been removed from our archived solar flare data to reflect the true physical units.

SDF Number 202 Issued at 2200Z on 21 JUL 1997IA. Analysis of Solar Active Regions and Activity from 20-2100Z to 21-2100Z SOLAR ACTIVITY HAS BEEN VERY LOW FOR THE PAST 24 HOURS.
THE VISIBLE DISK WAS SPOTLESS. SURGING WAS REPORTED NEAR SW34 DURING
THE FIRST HALF OF THE UT DAY, AND A FAINT, ACTIVE FILAMENT WAS
OBSERVED AT APPROXIMATELY 1500 UT IN AN UNNUMBERED PLAGE REGION NEAR
N29E09. A BRIGHT REGION IN X-RAYS WAS OBSERVED ON THE LIMB NEAR NE25
BY THE YOHKOH SPACECRAFT. THIS AREA OF THE CORONA IS ALSO ENHANCED
IN FE XIV AS REPORTED BY THE SACRAMENTO PEAK NATIONAL SOLAR
OBSERVATORY.
