Add aurora observation

Please fill in the following form to add an observation of an aurora display. You can add as many observations as you like for recent events and for past events. To validate your observation it's required to include at least one photo. All observations are reviewed by the SpaceWeatherLive Team before publication.

Enter the local time when your observation started, the UTC offset is automatically calculated.

Navigate the map and tap/click on the location where you observed the aurora. You can also search for your location by using the magnifying glass in the top left corner of the map which enables the search field.

Select how the aurora was visible in the sky during your observation at the given time and location. If the visibility changed a lot during your observation, please submit this form for every different phase.

Select how bright the aurora was during your observation at the given time and location. It can either be only photographic, faintly visible or perhaps bright aurora. If the brightness of the aurora changed a lot during your observation, please submit this form for every different phase.

Pick here all the forms of aurora that you have observed during your observation at the given time and location.

Pick here all the colors of the aurora that you have observed during your observation at the given time and location.

Tell us a bit more about your successful aurora hunting adventure. How did the aurora evolve during your observation? What equipment did you use to capture the aurora? What post-processing has been made to the photographs?
