Informe geofísico

Any mentioned solar flare in this report has a scaling factor applied by the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC). Because of the SWPC scaling factor, solar flares are reported as 42% smaller than for the science quality data. The scaling factor has been removed from our archived solar flare data to reflect the true physical units.

B. Eventos de Protones
THE GREATER THAN 10 MEV FLUX BEGAN THE PERIOD NEAR 20 PFU AND DECAYED TO NEAR 10 PFU AT THE END OF THE PERIOD. A SLIGHT INCREASE IN FLUX WAS OBSERVED AROUND 19/1500Z WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN RELATED TO THE M6 FLARE MENTIONED ABOVE.
C. Resumen de Actividad Geomagnética
THE GEOMAGNETIC FIELD WAS QUIET TO UNSETTLED FOR MOST OF THE PERIOD. A SHOCK WAS OBSERVED AT ACE AT 19/1450Z AND A SUDDEN IMPULSE WAS OBSERVED AT THE EARTH AT 19/1526Z. UNSETTLED TO ACTIVE CONDITIONS FOLLOWED THE SHOCK PASSAGE. SOLAR WIND VELOCITY JUMPED FROM APPROXIMATELY 450 KM/S TO OVER 600 KM/S. THE LIKELY SOURCE OF THIS DISTURBANCE WAS A MASS EJECTION ON 17 JULY THAT APPEARED TO BE DIRECTED OFF THE EAST LIMB OF THE SUN.
