Coronal mass ejection arrival

The anticipated C4.4 solar flare coronal mass ejection has arrived at ACE around 18:25 UTC. It is expected to arrive at Earth around 19:15 UTC with the current solar wind speed.

The solar wind speed jumped to a very decent 500km/s but the strength of the IMF is not all too impressive at 13nT and the Bz is pointing north. This is just the shock in front of the coronal mass ejectio for now so the Bz can still swing in the hours ahead. Be sure to follow all the data on our website in the coming hours.

Any mentioned solar flare in this article has a scaling factor applied by the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC), the reported solar flares are 42% smaller than for the science quality data. The scaling factor has been removed from our archived solar flare data to reflect the true physical units.
