Solar activity report

Any mentioned solar flare in this report has a scaling factor applied by the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC). Because of the SWPC scaling factor, solar flares are reported as 42% smaller than for the science quality data. The scaling factor has been removed from our archived solar flare data to reflect the true physical units.

IA. Analysis of Solar Active Regions and Activity from 07-2100Z to 08-2100Z

Solar activity was very low. Region 794 (S13W36) and Region 795 (N12W27) are both in decay. Region 792 (N11W68) and Region 796 (S08W64) are due to rotate off the visible disk on 10 August.

Solar activity is expected to be very low to low.
IIA. Geophysical Activity Summary 07-2100Z to 08-2100Z
The geomagnetic field ranged from quiet to unsettled levels. Solar wind speed has decreased over the past 24 hours from approximately 600 km/s to 540 km/s as the coronal hole high speed stream declines. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux at geosynchronous orbit remained at high levels today.
IIB. Geophysical Activity Forecast
The geomagnetic field is expected to be at predominantly unsettled levels over the next three days (09 August - 11 August).
