Geophysical report

Any mentioned solar flare in this report has a scaling factor applied by the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC). Because of the SWPC scaling factor, solar flares are reported as 42% smaller than for the science quality data. The scaling factor has been removed from our archived solar flare data to reflect the true physical units.

B. Proton Events
A GREATER THAN 10 MEV PROTON EVENT BEGAN AT 25/0010Z, REACHED A MAXIMUM OF 44 PFU AT 25/0130Z, AND ENDED AT 25/0230Z. THE EVENT WAS LIKELY ASSOCIATED WITH THE M7/3B ON 23/0713Z.
C. Geomagnetic Activity Summary
THE GEOMAGNETIC FIELD REACHED ACTIVE TO SEVERE STORM LEVELS SOON AFTER THE SHOCK AT GEOSYNCHRONOUS ORBIT AT 24/2315Z. K-INDICES REACHED 9 AT BOTH MID AND HIGH LATITUDES DURING THE 06-09Z INTERVAL. THE FIELD RETURNED TO QUIET TO UNSETTLED LEVELS BY THE END OF THE PERIOD. THE GREATER THAN 2 MEV ENERGETIC ELECTRON FLUX REACHED HIGH LEVELS BETWEEN 25/1830 - 2115Z.
