Giordano
Hello everyone, I just have a simple question, I've noticed in the last weeks that there is a cyclical disappearance of the sun every day from about 7 am till about 7.30 am in all of the SDO images, if you take a look at any of the videos and play it frame by frame you can easily verify this. It also appear to be something passing in between the sensors and the sun since you can see it "moving" trough by appearing from one side and usually disappear from the other. I wonder, what is causing this? Here you can see a 5 frame extract of the event I talk about: Example
Vancanneyt Sander
Those are SDO calibrations taking place which is done regularly. Normally they are announced on the SDO mission blog. info see: https://www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/2016/nasa-s-sdo-performs-calibration-maneuvers
Marcel de Bont
It can also be the moon (or in this case) the Earth passing in between the Sun and SDO.
