AbeH
Looks like us northerners will have a chance to see some aurora tonight. A G3 solar storm is in the forcast for this evening.
Marcel de Bont
Yeah, a CME is expected to arrive between now and the next 6 hours or so. G2 storming is a real possibility and we are perhaps going to reach the G3 threshold. That said, an X9 solar flare took place and might have launched an even bigger CME. AbeH
Wonder if it will be big enough to affect infrastructure?

AurorahunterPA
I came home from college to look for this today and now they downgraded the forecast I am so mad. Do you think it will still go high enough to see something?
AurorahunterPA
I have never seen a geo storm dissipate so fast. There's no way its done. Do they go back and forth between quiet periods and storm times?
AbeH
It can happen i think but once it goes down to a 1 or less it usually dosnt spike back up unless a new CME Impacts us
