Guest Engelsman Finland
Hi! i know we have some true math fans. The current solar even was due -+ 3 days. What is the friendly local math prediction for the arrival? <thanks
Marcel de Bont
I assume you are talking about the following coronal hole alert tweet? The plus/minus three days statement is just a general estimate as that's approximately how long it takes for solar wind flowing from a coronal hole at that location to reach Earth. No math involved. Guest Engelsman Finland
I thought the wind speed could have been calculated. How long was the coronal hole open? or facing earth?
Marcel de Bont
When it faces Earth it takes the solar wind about 3 days to reach Earth. That doesn't need to be calculated. The coronal hole faced Earth like half a day to a day or so due to the rather small size. We are seeing the effects of this stream right now but it's been rather boring thus far.
