Guest GDMorgan
When looking at the sun in SDO imagery, you can see what I assume are magnetic field lines without associated spots. are they Alpha phages without spots or just areas of higher than normal solar activity in the chronashpere? Looking at it today for example there is a spot on the southeast central quadrant that would be my example of what I am asking. My terminology is probably not accurate at all, and i'm probably asking a different question than I think I am.
Marcel de Bont
Could you post an example? I think you saw areas where there are stronger magnetic field lines coming from within the Sun but these aren't strong enough to form sunspots. Not too familiar with them myself but think that's what you mean.
