Marcel de Bont
Aurora conditions became unexpectedly high last night following a long period of southward directed IMF. NOAA observed one period of G2 conditions (maximum observed Kp at any point in a 3 hour period) where the observed Wing-Kp didn't got further than G1 conditions. I live in northern Sweden and managed to capture this shot of a corona despite the summer twilight conditions near local midnight. I got out the car and saw the corona right away. I did not even had time to set up my gear so I had to shoot this shot handheld (!) at ISO 3200 1 second exposure. The corona was gone within minutes so it was a good thing I didn't bother with the tripod! If you also have images from this night please share them!
