Good Day,

Sunspot activity is has been trending low in the last several weeks; looking a bit anemic here. Is the sun moving into solar minimum?

Cheers,

Keith

It is possible that we have passed solar maximum but nobody knows for sure. There are still predictions out there that say solar maximum is due early 2015. But fear not, even if this was solar max, there will still be periods of high solar activity. It is a fact that the strongest solar activity usually occurs after solar maximum.

I have heard predictions last year that this solar cycle would be weaker than the last. As far as what that means for our global climate, that is another discussion all together. I have also read in my research that the sun is moving in a lower 100 year cycle. Sunspot numbers are only a rough guide but the real correlation is in CME activitiy. Not all sunspots are created equal.

To make long term predictions based on short term trends is not science, it is nonsense.

This is about an average cycle and solar max may be yet to come or might allready have passed.

My guess is that we have passed solar maximum.
