Good Day,

I noticed on this website there was a moderate solar flare just yesterday. That flare was a CME that significantly lowered CGR counts as initally observed through the Thule AB observatory. However this CME in question appeared to be a short-lived and focused event in scope.

If no CME then why did this flare event cause a signifcant decrease in CGRs? CGRs are relatively stable from month to month at around 4300 to 4350, neutron counts per hour. Whatever type of radiation that impacted our magnetosphere was tightly-focused and very limited in scope.

I don't mean to get into particle physics on this discussion forum but please at a high level, explain the difference in the sub-atomic particles that are received from one flare compared to another that ultimately induce a CME.

The solar wind density and solar wind magnetic field strength are a bit elevated. The Forbush Decrease was not strong.

The M7.3 solar flare looks like a significant event. You might see a significant drop in the cosmic ray flux this time.
