Is 2242, old 2209 and old 2192?

I thought so too, seeing the faculae when it emerged from the eastern limb

Good question... but hard to say, it looks to be close to where 2192 and 2209 once were. However... these regions were located at about 13 or 14 degrees south as you can see here:

2242 is located at 19 degrees south according to the NOAA SWPC. 2242 is thus likely not a directed reincarnation of 2192.

If you look at the farside watch from solarham http://www.solarham.net/farside.htm, you can see that region 2237 is ex 2209 and ex 2192.

This is also mentioned in their news update from 12 december http://www.solarham.net/older.htm.

Region 2242 is a newly developped region.
