Active Region 2035 - (X1.3)

Sunspot region 2035 was the source of a major X1.3 solar flare (R3-strong) as it rotates away from Earth. The flare occurred today at 00:27 UTC near the west limb (S14W90)

Region 2035 is not in a favorable location for a coronal mass ejection (CME) to hit Earth. The first LASCO images show a CME that is directed away from Earth but we will run an additional analyses as more data comes in.

Now on our YouTube channel a video of the X1.3 flare which occurred today at 00:27 UTC. We take a look at the solar flare as seen by SDO and we see the CME thanks to imagery from SOHO/LASCO.

Additional analyses of the available coronagraph imagery confirms that the Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) from this flare is not Earth-directed.
